All science must start with observations of phenomena. A hypothesis is then suggested, followed by rigorous testing to either confirm or falsify the hypothesis. Based on the results of testing, a hypothesis may be revised or discarded. "Intelligent guidance" as a preconception subverts this process ("The earth is 'intelligently guided' around the sun."), and so it is not a part of science in general, including "Darwinism". If the evidence was there, it would be in the theory.
